What This Part Does

The manifold backplate is item 6 on the JXi / IXI water system diagram, and Zodiac lists a different backplate for each heater size: R0590002 for the 200 and R0590005 for the 370.

The 3-port manifold (item 7, R0590101) is supplied without a backplate, so the backplate is ordered separately to suit the heater size.

The Astralpool IXI manual shows two header types, A and B. If you are replacing manifold parts, send us a photo of your header and we will confirm the parts suit it.

The Rating Plate Rule (rev. IXJ-1.0)

Identify the part by the heater it came from:

1. Find the rating plate. It is inside the heater, on the outside of the combustion chamber, and shows the model number, serial number and gas type. Zodiac's JXi manual says these are needed to identify the correct part.
2. Check the badge. Astralpool IXI and Zodiac JXi heaters use the same part number for this part, so either badge is fine.
3. Check the size. This part is for the 200 only. If the rating plate says 370, order R0590005 instead.
4. Match the diagram. On the water system diagram this part is item 6. The diagrams are on our IXI / JXi parts page.
5. Check the header type. The Astralpool IXI manual shows two header types, A and B. Send us a photo of your header before ordering and we will confirm the part suits it.

Worked Example

Say the rating plate reads Zodiac JXi 200. The 200 takes R0590002 and the 370 takes R0590005, so R0590002 is the part to order. An Astralpool IXI 200 takes the same R0590002.

Fitting Notes From the Manual

1. Turn off all power to the heater at the breaker and turn off the main gas supply. Make sure the pump is off and will stay off for the whole job.
2. Seat each union o-ring properly and tighten union nuts hand tight only. Don't overtighten, and don't use pipe joint compound or tape.
3. Only nominal 50 mm PVC or CPVC may be connected to the heater's water connections.
4. Return all valves to their operating positions, restore power, run the pump and inspect carefully for leaks, then restore the gas supply and check for proper flow.
