Confirm this motor by the pump and the data plate:

1. Read the pump badge. CTX 500, BX 2.0, FX 520 and XP 2.0: this is your motor, per Astralpool's pumps manual H0717800 (the BX per Astralpool dealers).
2. Read the motor data plate. The black Notos motor numbers are 71313 or SP71613 (750W), 71314 or SP71614 (1100W) and 71319 or SP71619 (1500W). 71319 or SP71619 is this 1500W motor. Match the wattage on the data plate.
3. Beige motor? Ask first. A beige motor (71329 for 1500W) takes different fan, cowl and capacitor box parts. Send us a photo before ordering.
4. Check the wet end while it is apart. Inspect the mechanical seal, seal plate and O-ring, and the impeller, when the old motor comes off. A seal left leaking lets water reach the new motor.

The Three Black Notos Motors

Motor numbers for the CTX, FX and XP are from Astralpool's pumps installation manual H0717800. Astralpool's BX spare parts list includes the same three black motors, and Astralpool dealers list them for the BX 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0. XP figures are for the single phase models. Some older pumps of these models were built with a different motor (a beige motor on older CTX and BX pumps, a CMG motor on older CX, TX and FX pumps), so go by the motor fitted, not the pump badge.

What Slinger Means

Fluidra describes this motor as supplied with a slinger. A slinger is a ring on the motor shaft that throws off water tracking along the shaft before it can reach the front bearing. It does not replace the mechanical seal: a leaking seal still needs to be replaced.

Before You Replace the Motor

Before condemning the motor:

• Pump noisy or humming: the cause can be the impeller, bearings, mechanical seal or capacitor as well as the motor itself. Have it diagnosed before buying a motor.
• Pump not running: something may be stuck in the impeller. With the power isolated, check whether the impeller can move freely. If it does not move, something inside needs removing; if it does move, the motor may have failed.
• Damaged basket: debris can pass through a broken basket to the impeller and jam the pump.

Check regularly for leaks under the pump. A seal that is left leaking lets water reach the motor, so check the seal, seal plate and O-ring whenever the motor is off.

Fitting Notes

Isolate the pump at the switchboard before any work. Astralpool's pump manuals say the pump must be installed and serviced by a licensed electrician in accordance with AS/NZS 3000.
