Pool & Spa Pump Motor Bearing 6302 2RS Sealed - ID 15mm, OD 42mm, W 13mm
- Physically Stocked, unlike most "drop-shipping" websites.
- Shipped from VIC, NSW, WA, QLD
Sealed 6302 deep groove ball bearing for pool and spa pump electric motors. This is a heavier 6300-series bearing with the same 15mm bore as a 6202, but a larger 42mm outside diameter and a 13mm width.
Supplied from premium manufacturers including NTN, FAG, SKF, Nachi, NSK, Koyo/JTEKT and Timken, depending on availability. All are sealed motor bearings suitable for the application.
Check Your Existing Bearing Before Ordering
While these bearings are the sizes commonly used in the pumps listed below, we recommend double checking your current bearings before ordering. Brands use several variants of motor across a model's production life, so the pump model on the nameplate does not always identify the bearing fitted inside the motor.
Specifications
- Bearing designation: 6302
- Inside diameter (bore): 15mm
- Outside diameter: 42mm
- Width: 13mm
- Type: single row deep groove ball bearing, 6300 heavy series
- Sealing: 2RS, rubber sealed both sides
- Sold as: single bearing
Where This Size Is Used
- Used in some pool and spa pump electric motors, particularly where a higher capacity bearing is required for the same 15mm shaft.
- Fitment depends on the motor assembly rather than the pump model name.
Not To Be Confused With The 6202
The 6202 shares the 15mm bore but is only 35mm across and 11mm wide. A 6302 will not drop into a housing bored for a 6202, and a 6202 will spin in a housing bored for a 6302. Confirm the outside diameter and width from the bearing itself, not from the shaft size.
How To Identify The Bearing You Need
- The most reliable method is to read the number stamped on the face of the old bearing. A 6302 will be marked 6302, usually followed by a suffix such as 2RS, 2RS1, 2RSH, DDU or C3.
- If the marking is unreadable, measure the bore, the outside diameter and the width with vernier calipers and match them to the figures above.
- The four-digit number sets the dimensions. Suffixes describe sealing type and internal clearance. Where the motor specifies a particular suffix or a special bearing arrangement, match that specification as well.
Symptoms Of A Failed Pump Motor Bearing
- A rumble, growl or grinding that rises and falls with motor speed
- A high-pitched squeal on start-up that settles once warm
- Noise that gets steadily worse over weeks rather than appearing overnight
- A shaft that feels notchy or rough when turned by hand with the power isolated
- Motor running noticeably hotter than usual
Find Out Why It Failed
Pump motor bearings rarely fail from age alone. The most common cause is a weeping mechanical seal letting water track back along the shaft into the front bearing. Fitting new bearings without replacing the mechanical seal usually means doing the job again. Check that the shaft slinger is present and intact while the motor is apart.
Fitting Notes
Bearing replacement needs a puller and a press or a correctly sized drift. Never drive a bearing on by hitting the outer race, which brinells the tracks and guarantees early failure. Always replace both bearings, never one. This is workshop work for someone equipped to do it, and electrical reconnection must be carried out by a licensed electrician.

Frequently Asked Questions
What size is a 6302 bearing?
15mm inside diameter, 42mm outside diameter and 13mm wide.
What is the difference between a 6202 and a 6302?
Both have a 15mm bore. The 6302 is from the heavier 6300 series, at 42mm outside diameter and 13mm wide against the 6202 at 35mm and 11mm. The 6302 carries a higher load for the same shaft size. They are not interchangeable.
How do I know which one my motor takes?
Read the number off the old bearing, or measure the outside diameter. The shaft diameter alone will not tell you, because both sizes fit a 15mm shaft.
Do I need one bearing or two?
Most pump motors use two bearings, and they are not always the same size. Check both ends of the motor, and always replace them as a pair.

To the layperson, plumbing sizes and their names can be confusing due to the nominal sizes and naming conventions used.
This is not something we made up. Plumbers and manufacturers have used nominal (meaning ‘by name only’) sizing for decades.
Simply put, in plumbing, named sizes are often not the actual measurements of the pipe, fitting, or part. A PVC pipe called “50mm” or “2"” does not measure 50 mm anywhere. Instead, it follows nominal sizing, an internationally-standardised naming system.
Almost all fittings we use in the pool & spa industry use “pressure PVC” pipe & fittings. Do not confuse with “DWV” or other pipe & fittings and their names and sizes.
Use the Outside Diameter (OD) to check your pipe against fittings. Below is a quick reference for common spa & pool pipe sizes:
| Imperial Name | Metric Name | Pipe Diameter (OD) |
|---|---|---|
| 1/2" | 15mm | ~21.2–21.5 mm |
| 3/4" | 20mm | ~26.6–26.9 mm |
| 1" | 25 mm | ~33.4–33.7 mm |
| 1.5" | 40 mm | ~48.1–48.4 mm |
| 2" | 50 mm | ~60.2–60.8 mm |
| 2.5" | 65 mm | ~75.2–75.5 mm |
To reiterate, these are nominal sizes and are designed to fit matching fittings — not to measure what their name suggests. These are based on PVC Pressure Pipe AS/NZ 1477 Dimensions1.
- º Internal diameters vary slightly by manufacturer and class.
- 1 Not all pool/spa fittings match these dimensions exactly. Some do not follow Australian or international standards. Chinese spas may use proprietary fittings.
Understanding Plumbing Sizes & Nominal Measurements
Plumbing sizes can be confusing. PVC and many other pipe systems use nominal sizes—the size is a name, not the exact measured dimension. This convention is used across most pool and spa systems and other plumbing areas so that pipes and fittings remain compatible.
Why pipe sizes don’t match the measurements
The Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) system standardises pipe dimensions so that pipes, fittings, valves, and accessories interoperate.
Plumbers work with these nominal names every day, but DIYers can be tripped up if they try to match by a tape-measure alone.
How to Measure Pipe Correctly
-
Pipe size is identified by:
- The pipe’s Outside Diameter (OD).
- The fitting’s Inside Diameter (ID) (socket opening).
- Pipe Class / Schedule (e.g., Class 9, 12, 18 or Sch 40) relates to wall thickness and therefore the Internal Diameter (ID) and pressure rating.
- The outside diameter of a fitting is not useful (wall thickness varies by manufacturer).
Hose & Tube Dimensions
Common flexible hose sizes used in pool/spa systems (approximate IDs).
| Imperial Name | Metric Name | Inside Diameter (ID) |
|---|---|---|
| 3/8" | 9–10 mm | ~9 mm |
| 3/4" | 19 mm | ~19 mm |
BSP – British Standard Pipe Thread Sizes
BSP thread names are also nominal. The thread OD will not equal the nominal name.
| BSP Thread Size Naming | Outside Diameter (mm / inch) | TPI |
|---|---|---|
| 1/16" BSP | 7.7 mm / 0.304" | 28 |
| 1/8" BSP | 9.7 mm / 0.383" | 28 |
| 1/4" BSP | 13.16 mm / 0.518" | 19 |
| 3/8" BSP | 16.66 mm / 0.656" | 19 |
| 1/2" BSP / 15 mm | 20.99 mm / 0.825" | 14 |
| 5/8" BSP | 22.99 mm / 0.902" | 14 |
| 3/4" BSP / 20 mm | 26.44 mm / 1.041" | 14 |
| 7/8" BSP | 30.20 mm / 1.189" | 14 |
| 1" BSP / 25 mm | 33.25 mm / 1.309" | 11 |
