Balboa spa bath pumps are one of the quietest in the industry. They offer maximum energy efficiency for lower operating costs, as well as no water retention for perfect hygiene, water resistant enclosures, and multiple levels of safety for your peace of mind.

The Balboa Pumps provide excellent hydraulic performance in a compact and extremely quiet design. Designed to circulate hot water in (whirlpool) spa baths, not spas, these pumps incorporate a special internal design to ensure the pump self drains eliminating the build up of unhygienic/stale water.

Installation Notes:

  • Read the Balboa Bath Pump Instruction Manual (PDF) before you start. The notes below are a summary of the key points only.
  • For spa bath use only where it is drained after use. Not for standalone spas, permanently-filled spas, chemically-treated water, or any other application.
  • Not self-priming. The casing has to be flooded before starting, so the pump suction inlet must sit higher than the bath suction fitting.
  • Mount it solid, level, rigid and vibration free, and bolt the pump down to reduce vibration and pipe stress.
  • Allow at least 102cm clearance for motor ventilation. Without it the motor overheats and the pump stops.
  • The fittings are ABS. Some PVC jointing compounds are not compatible with ABS, so check the solvent cement before gluing.
  • Barrel unions are hand tight only. No wrenches, no thread tape, no pipe compound.
  • Keep it out of the weather. A protective cover is required if the pump is installed outside.
  • Runs from a dedicated 10 Amp power socket. An earth leakage or residual current device must be fitted.
  • 6 metres of non-kink air tube is supplied for the air button connection.

Operation:

  • Fill the bath to at least 50mm above the jets before switching on. Never run the pump dry.
  • Press the air button to start. Press it again to stop.
  • Fill with cold to lukewarm water. Water already above 40°C can leave the heating element inactive, and the over-temperature sensor can trip while the bath is filling.
  • The heater only operates while the pump is running at normal operating pressure. A built-in pressure sensor stops the element working without flow.
  • A pre-set thermostat holds the water to a maximum of 40°C, interlocked to a secondary upper limit cut-out.

Warranty: Covered by our Warranty Policy.
