Genuine Astralpool o-rings for the diverter stem of Astralpool and Hurlcon top mount multiport valves. 75062 is supplied as a pair, because the valves that use it carry two of them on the stem, and both should be renewed together. Astralpool lists it as the o-ring for the top mount valve diverter stem, No. 10 on the Multiport Valve parts list, and it is also sold as the diverter o-ring set, rotor o-ring, stem o-ring set and back ring o-rings. The Astralpool spare parts number is also written as SP75062.
These o-rings seal the stem where it passes through the valve, which stops water weeping out around the handle. Water at the rim of the cover is a different o-ring, and water running to waste while the valve is on Filter is usually the spider gasket. Use the rule below before you order, because the single stem o-ring 75905 covers the same position on other valves.
The Two or One Rule (rev. MPV-STEM-PAIR-1.0)
Astralpool shows No. 10 differently depending on which parts list you are reading. This is the single most common mix-up on these valves, so check the diagram for your own valve before ordering.
- Find the exploded diagram for your valve, not for your filter, then look at position No. 10 on the diverter stem.
- Two o-rings shown at No. 10: you need this pair, 75062. The Multiport Valve, Sep 09 to Current parts list is drawn this way.
- One o-ring shown at No. 10: you need the single shaft o-ring, 75905. The 50mm 76053 and 40mm 76036 valve diagrams are drawn this way.
- Diagram unclear, or the valve is older than you can date: pull the cover off, count the o-rings on the stem, or send us a photo of the stem and the valve and we will confirm which one you need.
Turn the pump off and release the pressure before you remove the valve cover.
| Symptom | Usual part |
|---|---|
| Water weeping around the handle or stem, valve diagram shows two o-rings at No. 10 | Diverter stem o-rings 75062 (this part, pair) |
| Water weeping around the handle or stem, valve diagram shows one o-ring at No. 10 | Shaft o-ring 75905 |
| Water weeping from the seam between the cover and the valve body | Cover o-ring: 40mm 75919 or 50mm 75930 |
| Water running to waste or showing in the sight glass while set to Filter | Spider gasket: 40mm 75916 or 50mm 75929, or a weak spring 75912 |
| Handle stiff, notchy or will not hold a position | Worn stem o-rings plus the plastic spring washer 75907, metal spring washer 75928 and spring 75912 |
Fitment
This set suits the valve, not the filter. An older filter may carry a newer valve and the reverse, so always check the valve itself. 75062 is listed for Astralpool and Hurlcon top mount multiport valves in both 40mm and 50mm, on the parts lists that show a pair of o-rings on the diverter stem, including the Multiport Valve, Sep 09 to Current list and the 40mm multiport valve diagram covering the RX, FG and E Series.
Supplier listings for this part disagree on the valve era. Some list 75062 against post September 2009 valves, others against pre 2007 valves. The reliable test is the diagram and the stem itself, not the year. Count the o-rings on the stem, or send us a photo and we will confirm before you buy.
If your valve takes a single stem o-ring, order 75905 instead.

When to Replace
Replace both o-rings when water weeps from around the handle or stem with the pump running, when the handle feels stiff or notchy, or when the old o-rings are flattened, cracked or hardened. Replace them as a pair even if only one looks worn. Fitting them means taking the cover off the valve, so it is worth doing whenever the cover is already off for a spider gasket, diverter or spring service. Clean the stem and the grooves before the new o-rings go on.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many o-rings come in 75062?
Two. The valves that use this part carry a pair on the diverter stem, and both should be replaced at the same time.
What is the difference between 75062 and 75905?
Both sit at No. 10 on the diverter stem, but on different Astralpool parts lists. 75062 is the pair shown on the Multiport Valve, Sep 09 to Current list. 75905 is the single o-ring shown on the 50mm 76053 and 40mm 76036 valve diagrams. Check your own valve's diagram, or count the o-rings on the stem.
Does it fit both 40mm and 50mm valves?
Yes, it is listed for Astralpool and Hurlcon top mount multiport valves in both port sizes, on the parts lists that show a pair at No. 10.
Water is leaking from the rim of my valve cover. Is this the part?
No. That is the cover o-ring, 75919 on a 40mm valve or 75930 on a 50mm valve. 75062 seals the stem at the centre of the valve.
Water runs to waste while the valve is on Filter. Will these o-rings fix it?
No. That is an internal leak, usually a worn spider gasket (75916 on 40mm valves, 75929 on 50mm valves) or a weak spring (75912).
My valve handle is stiff and hard to turn. Is that these o-rings?
Often. Hardened stem o-rings make the handle stiff. Check the spring washers and the spring while the cover is off, since those wear at the same time.
Is this a genuine Astralpool part?
Yes. We are an authorised Astralpool and Fluidra dealer and warranty agent, and this is the genuine Astralpool 75062.

To the layperson, plumbing sizes and their names can be confusing due to the nominal sizes and naming conventions used.
This is not something we made up. Plumbers and manufacturers have used nominal (meaning ‘by name only’) sizing for decades.
Simply put, in plumbing, named sizes are often not the actual measurements of the pipe, fitting, or part. A PVC pipe called “50mm” or “2"” does not measure 50 mm anywhere. Instead, it follows nominal sizing, an internationally-standardised naming system.
Almost all fittings we use in the pool & spa industry use “pressure PVC” pipe & fittings. Do not confuse with “DWV” or other pipe & fittings and their names and sizes.
Use the Outside Diameter (OD) to check your pipe against fittings. Below is a quick reference for common spa & pool pipe sizes:
| Imperial Name | Metric Name | Pipe Diameter (OD) |
|---|---|---|
| 1/2" | 15mm | ~21.2–21.5 mm |
| 3/4" | 20mm | ~26.6–26.9 mm |
| 1" | 25 mm | ~33.4–33.7 mm |
| 1.5" | 40 mm | ~48.1–48.4 mm |
| 2" | 50 mm | ~60.2–60.8 mm |
| 2.5" | 65 mm | ~75.2–75.5 mm |
To reiterate, these are nominal sizes and are designed to fit matching fittings — not to measure what their name suggests. These are based on PVC Pressure Pipe AS/NZ 1477 Dimensions1.
- º Internal diameters vary slightly by manufacturer and class.
- 1 Not all pool/spa fittings match these dimensions exactly. Some do not follow Australian or international standards. Chinese spas may use proprietary fittings.
Understanding Plumbing Sizes & Nominal Measurements
Plumbing sizes can be confusing. PVC and many other pipe systems use nominal sizes—the size is a name, not the exact measured dimension. This convention is used across most pool and spa systems and other plumbing areas so that pipes and fittings remain compatible.
Why pipe sizes don’t match the measurements
The Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) system standardises pipe dimensions so that pipes, fittings, valves, and accessories interoperate.
Plumbers work with these nominal names every day, but DIYers can be tripped up if they try to match by a tape-measure alone.
How to Measure Pipe Correctly
-
Pipe size is identified by:
- The pipe’s Outside Diameter (OD).
- The fitting’s Inside Diameter (ID) (socket opening).
- Pipe Class / Schedule (e.g., Class 9, 12, 18 or Sch 40) relates to wall thickness and therefore the Internal Diameter (ID) and pressure rating.
- The outside diameter of a fitting is not useful (wall thickness varies by manufacturer).
Hose & Tube Dimensions
Common flexible hose sizes used in pool/spa systems (approximate IDs).
| Imperial Name | Metric Name | Inside Diameter (ID) |
|---|---|---|
| 3/8" | 9–10 mm | ~9 mm |
| 3/4" | 19 mm | ~19 mm |
BSP – British Standard Pipe Thread Sizes
BSP thread names are also nominal. The thread OD will not equal the nominal name.
| BSP Thread Size Naming | Outside Diameter (mm / inch) | TPI |
|---|---|---|
| 1/16" BSP | 7.7 mm / 0.304" | 28 |
| 1/8" BSP | 9.7 mm / 0.383" | 28 |
| 1/4" BSP | 13.16 mm / 0.518" | 19 |
| 3/8" BSP | 16.66 mm / 0.656" | 19 |
| 1/2" BSP / 15 mm | 20.99 mm / 0.825" | 14 |
| 5/8" BSP | 22.99 mm / 0.902" | 14 |
| 3/4" BSP / 20 mm | 26.44 mm / 1.041" | 14 |
| 7/8" BSP | 30.20 mm / 1.189" | 14 |
| 1" BSP / 25 mm | 33.25 mm / 1.309" | 11 |
| 1-1/4" BSP | 41.91 mm / 1.650" | 11 |
| 1-1/2" BSP / 40 mm | 47.80 mm / 1.882" | 11 |
| 2" BSP / 50 mm | 59.61 mm / 2.347" | 11 |
| 2-1/4" BSP | 65.71 mm / 2.587" | 11 |
